Self-help group credit (DAY-NRLM)

Money that comes to a women's self-help group, not to one person: a starting fund, a larger investment fund, and bank loans without collateral, which the group lends on to its members.

Revolving fund

₹20,000 to ₹30,000 per group

For
Women in rural self-help groups
Community Investment Fund
Up to ₹2.5 lakh per group
Bank loan without collateral
Up to ₹20 lakh per group
Interest subvention
On bank credit, up to a ceiling per group

What to know

  • These are group entitlements under the rural livelihoods mission (called Umed in Maharashtra). Each member borrows from the group.
  • A group usually has to save and lend among its members regularly for some months before a bank will lend to it.
  • News reports of an interest-free ₹5 lakh loan to every woman under 'Lakhpati Didi' are not confirmed by the official material we read.

How to apply

  1. Join or form a self-help group through the community resource person in your village.
  2. Save and meet regularly and keep the group's books.
  3. The mission's block office helps the group open a bank account and apply for credit.
