  • Appraising and monitoring rural infrastructure and development projects

  • Promoting self-help groups, farmer producer organisations and watershed projects
  • Inspecting financed institutions and writing reports

A typical day

In a regional office you appraise project proposals from state governments, check utilisation of funds and process refinance claims. As a District Development Manager you work alone in a district: attending bankers' meetings with the Collector, visiting villages to see projects and farmer groups, and reporting to the regional office. Field days involve a lot of road travel; office days are spent on reports and reviews.
