What you will actually do

  • Appraising loan proposals from small and medium enterprises
  • Monitoring borrower accounts and recovering dues
  • Managing refinance to banks, NBFCs and microfinance institutions
  • Running credit guarantee, fund-of-funds and promotional schemes
  • Visiting units and preparing credit notes

A typical day

In a branch you handle a portfolio of MSME borrowers: studying balance sheets, visiting factories, writing appraisal notes and following up on overdue accounts. In the head office or a vertical you work on refinance to other lenders, start-up funds or scheme design. Compared with a commercial bank branch there is no retail counter and far fewer customers, but each credit decision is examined closely.
